Dori & Dye began with a frustration I know too well.

I was searching for a kurta for everyday life — something to wear to the shops, to school, to office work and factory visits. Nothing fancy; just a good kurta with a little something to it. But every piece with real value — a lace trim, proper embroidery, a nice cut, a good print — sat at ₹1,500 and above, often ₹2,500 or ₹3,000. And under ₹1,000? Plain, boring, or badly made. A genuinely good kurta with a beautiful detail at an honest price simply didn't exist.

So I decided to make it exist. That frustration became Dori & Dye.

We're a husband-and-wife team from Chennai. I handle the design and the content, making sure everything on the creative side runs smooth; he makes sure operations run smooth. And I'm the face you'll see in every photo on this site — because I believe you should see our kurtas on a real person who actually wears them, works in them, and lives in them. I'm wearing what I sell.

Every Dori & Dye piece is made here in Chennai, close enough that we visit our production floor every week. We obsess over the things you feel but don't see — fabrics chosen for Indian weather, cuts that move with you, embroidery that's done properly or not at all. And we say no to the things that quietly inflate prices: no middlemen, no inflated MRPs crossed out to fake a discount, no ten layers between the person who stitches your kurta and you.

That's how every piece stays under ₹999. Not by cutting corners — by cutting the distance.
